General Questions
What is an AGF-14?
The AGF-14 Attic & Garage Ventilation Fan keeps your garage and attic cooler. It’s designed to mount in the ceiling of the garage, venting to the attic. The fan will turn on automatically via a thermostat and pull fresh air into the garage. This will then exhaust into the attic pushing the superheated air through the existing attic venting. The AGF-14 Attic and Garage Fan will cool the garage as much as 20 degrees and the attic as much as 40 degrees.
How does an attic & garage fan work?
The AGF-14 works by pulling cooler, fresh air through the intake vents in the garage and exhausts the air into the attic. That then forces the super-heated attic air out the attic vents, which may include gable vents, ridge vents, dormer vents, whirley vents, etc. An adjustable thermostat allows homeowners to decide when the AGF-14 should activate for their particular climate or season.
What type of fan do I need?
- AGF-14: Ideal for homes with an attic above the garage. Designed to remove the heat that is trapped from both your attic and garage.
- AF-14: Specifically designed for homes with attic spaces. This fan has multiple mounting options including; gable, dormer vent, whirley bird, etc.
- SWGF-14: This is a sidewall ventilation fan designed for homes that are 2-story, flat roof, or no attic space above the garage. Also, suitable for stand alone garages, sheds, or any other closed space that needs ventilation.
How much power does the AGF-14 use?
I have an attic fan, do I need an AGF-14?
Can I install the fan myself?
How much air does it move?
Does the fan affect the fire rating of my garage?
The AGF-14 Attic & Garage Fan is equipped with a fire damper that is held open with a 212 degree fusible link to allow the air through the fan. In case of a garage fire, this link melts and closes the damper keeping the flames out of the attic. The fan motor shuts off at 185 degrees.
How do I adjust the thermostat of my fan?
Turn off the power to the fan. Then remove the cover plate on the electrical junction box, the thermostat is the round button in the middle of the face plate. The adjustment is on the back of the thermostat. Remember that there is an 8-10 degree ( or more) thermo lag. That means that if it is set at 105 from the factory the fan will shut off around 95 degrees. The lower the setting the more it will run.
